WELL DONE
GEORGE
George Davidson celebrated his eighty
fifth birthday with a few of his OGCC friends last
week(17/11/11) at lunch where Peter Kerr presented him with his Curling Cue
so that he could continue curling with us and his Mother Club, Bridge of
Weir. In accepting the cue George said that he would now seek some practice
ice to get the feel of this new aid, however he turned up at Braehead last
night (21/11/11) as a very anxious sub for John Davies and stated that he
thought he would not use his cue as he had not had time to practice. He was
told in no uncertain terms that he must use it and consequently took to the
ice with it in hand. Bill Shepherd was his skip and asked George for a
strike for his first three stones which he duly accomplished with finesse
and AA, his opponent muttered under his breath "wait until he has to draw".
This was requested for his fifth stone and was spot on. He then went on to
play a very good game which he obviously enjoyed, so much so that he paid
for drinks for all of us to celebrate.
